Borders Steam Train Trip - Part 2

Here are some of our views on our way to Tweedbank station...





This new Borders Railway line follows part of the romantic path of the old Waverley Route from Edinburgh to Carlisle. This route was severed in the dark ages of rail closure in the 1960s. Over the years there have been many plans to bring this rail line back. 




The  new Borders Railway line was opened on the 6th of September 2015 by the Queen.
The full route is made up of 10 stops and runs over a distance of around 30 miles.
The borders railway has therefore became the longest railway to be built in Scotland since the Fort William-Mallaig line in 1901 and also the longest rail re-opening project in British history.



Look at the smoke filling the air around the train...
